Chris Kaltsas and his wife Victoria bought the diner in September of 2005, and spent 6 months remodeling it. When they re-opened the doors in March of 2006, the existing structure had been fully converted into the Red Plate Diner.
We pride ourselves on carefully preparing each meal to order, all made with the finest ingredients and name brands. We were the first smoke-free diner in the county, long before smoking was outlawed in restaurants. Today the Red Plate Diner is a popular setting in Wernersville, PA — a place that both travels and locals have come to know and to trust.
Chris and Victoria both come from food service backgrounds, with experience in everything from fine dinning to catering. They run the Red Plate Diner as a team, and most enjoy sharing their passion and their love of food with their clientele. Both Victoria and Chris believe it’s the combination of great food, friendly service, and sparkly clean environment that have made the Red Plate Diner a popular Wernersville, PA destination.
About Our Name
Victoria had read about an American heritage tradition where families honored someone special with a red plate that read “You Are Special” on it. It was a fun way to celebrate a meal with loved ones, and she and her children started the tradition in the Kaltsas home after they had visited a store that allowed you to make and paint your own pottery. She brought home the red plate she had made, and it became a special part of all the Kaltsas’ family celebrations. It occurred to Chris and Victoria it was not only a great tradition, but a great idea for a restaurant.
The Red Plate Diner was born.
Sincerely,
Chris & Victoria Kaltsas
